Table and coffee table surfaces should be protected from direct exposure to high temperatures (hot dishes), wetting (water – e.g., leaking vases), dampness, scratching (placing sharp objects or others, e.g., metal sculptures, metal handbag fittings), and chemically active solutions (including spilled solvents, alcohol, body care liquids). These factors can lead to damage, e.g., to the lacquer, and may cause stains, discoloration, or dulling. Coasters should be used to prevent damage.
